Software QA Tester

PC Guardian, a leader in computer security products, sells to Fortune 500 companies domestically and internationally. In this position, the Software QA Tester will be part of a small project team responsible for launching a product line of radio frequency identification (RFID) IT asset tracking and security solutions at PC Guardian. The QA Tester is responsible for developing, executing, and documenting all functional and performance testing for the software, as well as performance testing (in conjunction with the engineering team) multiple RFID device and tag configurations.

Job Description:

  • Read and understand the product requirements and functionality
  • Read and understand the documented business processes and customer use cases that the solution addresses
  • Gain an understanding of the data flows between system components sufficient to enable analysis of test results
  • Gain an understanding of the database schema sufficient to enable analysis of test results
  • Write test plans
  • Perform structured testing processes to thoroughly test software and hardware configurations
  • Perform structured testing processes to thoroughly test business processes and functionality
  • Validate and "certify" a set of software configuration components and RFID hardware that meet specific business and technical performance, functionality, and quality standards
  • Perform regression testing and revalidation of functionality following changes to the software
  • Test the uninstall process for the software
  • Document all test results and perform analysis for variations from the expected results

Job Requirements

  • 3 years of QA testing with knowledge of software development life cycle principles and test methodologies
  • Experience writing test cases and then testing each case against the software
  • Ability to quickly learn complex software applications and technologies on which testing will be performed
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, with ability to juggle many tasks and manage multiple priorities
  • A self starter who can effectively work independently with minimal direction
  • Proficient with Microsoft web development technologies and testing
  • General understanding of MS SQL Server databases.
  • Ability to think logically and systematically.
